I have no elk draw hunts in New Mexico. Elk Tags are obtained by guaranteed landowner permits which I supply as part of the cost of the hunt, but hunters still must purchase an elk license. Bear licenses are over-the counter, but must be purchased 48 hours before hunting. No bear hunting after October 15th. Deer are on a draw which was 100% in 2009. I’ll send all deer hunters a deer application in March 2011. The deadline is April 7th, 2011.

November is the migration season. We lease significant acreage on all three of the migration corridors that traverse trough Unit 4. These hunts are more weather dependent than any other month, but when you catch the weather it is the “Discovery Channel” for Elk. Over the past six seasons November has not only had the highest percentage of success, but the largest Bulls too.

December is normally a cold snowy month. Our leases not only are on the migration corridors, we also have significant winter range habitat. This is why the last two seasons in December have been our highest success month, and has produced our best bulls of the season. I often can accommodate late booking clients on these high success hunts.
