RIFLE
HUNTS IN NEW MEXICO
Here in Unit 4 (Elk Central) of Northern
New Mexico we have a unique situation - The public never gets to hunt
elk (except on a few limited entry state owned lands). All private land
elk permits are issued to the landowners, which are transferred to their
outfitter, and then to the hunting clients. Really, it’s a great system,
as the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish regulates the harvest by
making the landowner permits very limited.
Our season runs from early October through
January.
COMBO ELK AND MULE DEER
HUNTS IN NEW MEXICO
Each season we run two combo hunts, One
the last week of October and another the first week of November. These
are very popular and successful hunts for both species (80% elk and 38%
deer).
The elk licenses, as always are
guaranteed, but the deer are on draw. Everyone will draw but you must
apply! See rates and dates for deadlines on applications. These hunts are $500.00 higher than the
elk only hunts.

ELK AND MULE DEER IN COLORADO
This hunt has a very high success rate on
both species. Only six hunters are taken each season and generally we
have 100% shooting and 85% success on bull elk and 50% on buck mule
deer. This five day hunt is in the third week of September which
coincides with the peak of the elk rut.
This is a limited entry hunt that requires
one preference point to draw each species. Call the Colorado Department
of Wildlife for details on earning points. (303-297-1192). These hunts
can be booked with a 1x1 or 2x1 guide service.
